Bob Marley: The legend lives on 40 years later.

"Money can't buy life" – Those were the last words of Bob Marley spoken to his son Ziggy Marley before he died.

The Honorable Robert Nesta Marley OM, (Order of Merit, Jamaica) was a Jamaican singer, songwriter, and musician. He was born February 6, 1945, and died May 11, 1986, at 36.

Marley died of cancer that was first diagnosed as a type of malignant melanoma under the nail of a toe in July 1977. He turned down the doctor's advice to amputate his toes, claiming that, as a devoted Rastafarian, it is against his religious belief.

Bob Marley's started his music career at the age of 18 when he formed 'Bob Marley and the Wailers'. He is considered one of the reggae pioneers, with his kinds of music combining reggae, ska, and rocksteady elements. His distinctive vocal and songwriting style made him a global figure up to date
