  • Tambuwal: APC Reps head for court today: The horse-trading over the defection of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, continues on Monday (today) with the   All Progressives Congress Caucus in the House heading for the court to stop the plot by the Peoples Democratic Party to   force   the speaker out of office
  • Mubi battle: Army arrests six senior officers for fleeing: Six military commanders, including an injured Lieutenant Colonel, have been arrested by the military for withdrawing from Mararaba, Michika, Madagali, Mubi and later Vimtim when Boko Haram insurgents attacked the communities last week.
  • 2015: Jemibewon, ex-MILAD warn against same-religion tickets:  A former Minister of Police Affairs, Maj.-Gen. David Jemibewon (retd.); a former Military Administrator of Osun and Bauchi states, Col. Theophilus Bamigboye (retd.); and the Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Mr. Razak Atunwa have warned against the same religion ticket for presidential and vice-presidential candidates.

  • NLC knocks IG for withdrawing Tambuwal’s security aides  The Nigeria Labour Congress has described the withdrawal of the security details attached to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal, by the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Suleiman Abba, over his defection to the All Progressives Congress, as shameful.
  • Christians, Muslims pray for peace in N’East  Thousands of Muslim and Christian faithful on Sunday converged on Yola, Adamawa State capital, to offer special prayers for lasting peace and an end to insurgency in the country.
  •  FG honours top 100 firms The Federal Government has concluded plans to honour 100 top business endeavours in Nigeria in December. The initiative, a brainchild of President Goodluck Jonathan, is aimed at identifying and bestowing presidential honour on highly performing business concerns in order to encourage them to further contribute to the economy in more significant ways
  •  Dangote reduces cement price to N1,000 Dangote Cement Plc has announced a 41 per cent reduction in the prices of cement, with the different grades of the essential commodity now selling for between N1,000 and N1,150, exclusive of Value Added Tax.
  •  Aftermath of Attacks, 350 Children Missing in Mubi
    At least 350 children have been reported missing during the fight between Nigerian troops and members of the dreaded Boko Haram insurgents in Mubi town, Adamawa State.
  • Norway Forcibly Adopts Nigerian Woman’s Baby
    A Nigerian in Norway, Ms. Queen Agho, is now permanently separated from her one-year-old son given the inability of the federal government to step in and prevent the illegal adoption.
    The case, which has been on for about a year, saw the Norwegian Government forcibly taking  custody  of the child
  • ICPC Warns Against Fake Tax Clearance Certificates  The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has warned members of the business community and private citizens against using forged or fake Tax Clearance Certificate (TCC) and Audit Reports to apply for contracts.
  • Conference of Speakers will Expedite Constitution Review, Says Kwara Speaker  Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Razak Atunwa, at the weekend stated that the Conference of Speakers of the 36 state Houses of Assemblies had agreed to give the harmonised version of the Nigerian Constitution accelerated a speedy consideration.
  • Defend Yourselves against Your Attackers, Lawmaker Urges Communities  A member of the House of Representatives representing Kaura Federal Constituency, Kaduna State, Hon. Gideon Gwani, has urged communities in the southern part of the state, which have been under frequent attack by gunmen, to take adequate measures in protecting themselves if the government fails to provide security for them.
  • Presidency Commences Risk Assessment for Aspirants  Ahead of the 2015 general elections, the office of the Special Adviser to the President on Political Affairs, in conjunction with Nigerian Economic and Political Action Committee (NEPAC), has announced the commencement of  risk assessment and candidate valuation for aspirants jostling for various political offices.
  • Jonathan Asks Court to Dismiss Suit Challenging His Eligibility  President Goodluck Jonathan and Vice-President Namadi Sambo have asked a Federal High Court in Abuja to dismiss the suit filed to challenge their eligibility to contest the 2015 presidential election.
  • Belgore Commends ‘Transparent’ Delegates’ Election in Kwara  The Kwara State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant, Mr. Mohammed Dele Belgore (SAN), at the weekend lauded the ‘peaceful and democratic’ conduct of the just concluded ward congress delegates’ election in the state.
